Enchanted Woods

Located at Castle Forbes Bay on the Huon River. It showcases Tasmania’s rare and beautiful specialty timbers in a variety of hand-turned woodcraft. Watch the resident wood-turner at work creating magical pieces from fragrant Huon pine, blackheart sassafras, rich red myrtle, and other wonderful woods. The shop features collectables, copper art and stained glass as well as woodcraft.

Studio Karma

In Glen Huon. It is the home and studio of watercolour artist Terry Choi-Lundberg who is inspired by Tasmania’s pristine wilderness and natural landscapes. Browse through the gallery space of original artworks and select a print or card as a memento of the visit. Relax on the deck with peaceful views to the garden and ornamental pond. Studio Karma is also home to Spa Karma, an overnight spa retreat.

Southern Design Centre, Geeveston

Southern Design Centre

Located in Geeveston, the Southern Design Centre is the workspace and gallery for furniture designers and makers working in Tasmania’s unique specialty timbers. Fine furniture crafted in blackwood, Huon pine, Tasmanian oak and celery-top pine will become tomorrow’s treasured classics. The Gallery incorporates an undercover studio and market area for artisans including a wood turner, spinner, potter, clothing designer, silversmith and artists working in watercolour, glass and batik.

Chakaya Alpaca Shop

At Judbury is a working alpaca farm in the heart of the Huon Valley. Chakaya’s herd of 60 prize winning Suri alpacas graze the lush pastures and produce top quality high-micron fleeces. A team of local spinners and knitters turn the fleece into a range of wonderful garments. The alpaca shop’s extensive range includes pure alpaca knitwear, scarves, gloves, capes, shawls and doonas.

The Margate Train

The resting place of Tasmania’s last passenger train. The complex is a hive of activity with carriages housing a variety of retail outlets. Woodbridge Hill Handweaving Studio and Gardens

You can watch the skilled weavers create beautifully-coloured garments, shawls, scarves, rugs and fabrics from a range of natural fibres including handspun wool, alpaca and mohair. Stroll in the landscaped gardens with a range of rare plants and enjoy the sweeping views across the D’Entrecasteaux Channel.

Open Gardens

Inverawe Native Gardens

Located on the shores of North West Bay at Margate. The gardens feature colourful seasonal flowerings of plants including grevilleas, callistemons, correas and acacias. The 22 acre water-wise garden abounds in birds including all twelve Tasmanian endemic species. The gardens are regularly visited by wedge-tail eagles, sea eagles and swamp harriers. Nature trails wind through the gardens and woodland areas.
